Kindergarten Discipline Policy
Our classroom discipline policy is as follows:
When your child is displaying POSITIVE behavior, the following will occur-
1.Child is verbally praised.
2.Child is asked to place an X on the slip in their toolbox.
3.When their slip is full with 5 X’s, your child will place 5 “happy rocks” into the classroom “Happy Rock” jar.
4.The child will receive a “Rockstar” certificate for earning 5 “happy rocks”
5.When the “happy rock” jar is full, the class will have a “Happy Rock Party” to celebrate their good behavior.
If your child displays NEGATIVE behavior, the following steps occur-
1.The child receives a verbal warning.
2.If the same behavior is repeated, the child’s card is flipped from green to yellow, and they receive a 5 minute time-out at recess.
3.If negative behavior continues, the card is then flipped to blue, and a 10 minute time-out is given at recess.
4.If the child continues misbehaving, the card is again flipped to red. A fix-it plan is filled out, and the child spends their 30 minute recess in the office. *The fix-it plan is sent home to be signed and returned to school the following day.
5.If this behavior continues, there will be a visit to Mr. Henrickson’s office, and parental contact is made.
